Q&A with Past TYMC Student: Joshua Amphayvong

Date

What you do…
I am in the Air Force.

Musical interests…
I like all kinds of music! I am currently playing the cello in my church orchestra.

Musical accomplishments…
I studied guitar for about five years then switched over to the cello and choir for about three years at Tucson Music Youth Center. Once I graduated high school, I enrolled in Pima Community College. Throughout my college education, I played cello in their orchestra, directed by Dr. Alex Tentser.

Update on your current life…
Now, I’m working in the Tucson Air National Guard (Morris AFB) as an Avionics Technician. I still play the cello and sing in quartets, the choir, and sometimes perform solos for church. From time to time, I’ll still play the guitar for fun, for some good ole country songs, and Blue Grass.

Goals for the future…
I plan on a career in the Military.
Music will always be a part of my life, and I am so very thankful for The Symphony Women’s Association for their time, hard work, and dedication throughout the years.
